Health care has undergone a drastic change in the last 50 or so years. While our grandparents usually had quite a nice selection of home remedies, in terms of self-care our medicine cabinets these days are often in quite a poor condition.
What are the most common items to be found there?

(We’ll take a look at them later on)

  • Aspirin: “Even in low doses, aspirin can have significant side effects. The most common ones, occurring in up to 10% of people who take aspirin, are an increased tendency to bleed and stomach upset, including heartburn, nausea, vomiting, or bleeding in the stomach. Other less common side effects include kidney, liver, and nervous system problems.”

  • Tylenol: For a drug that’s not supposed to have any side effects ‘really’ the list is surprisingly long: liver issues, breathing, gastro-intestinal, heart problems, neurological troubles, skin rashes etc

  • Ibuprofen: can increase risk of fatal heart attacks or stroke as well as fatal stomach or intestinal bleeding. That’s just the worst, the list goes on a fair bit.

  • Benadryl:
  • dizziness, drowsiness, loss of coordination; dry mouth, nose, or throat; constipation, upset stomach;
